Bastard Collaboration

Ollie Nollie

Objective: Bastard, a Milan-based company that produces and sells higher priced skateboards, snowboards, and related apparel, needs to expand its customer base to include younger customers.

Outcome: Ollie Nollie, a lazy, Italian onion that likes skateboarding, was created as the Bastard company mascot to help promote their products and spread brand awareness to a younger clientele. As the company mascot, Ollie will join the Lazy Riders team, which is a group of professional skateboarders and snowboarders sponsored by Bastard. Ollie’s background story was developed keeping the traits of the Bastard company in mind, and fans of the sport will recognize his name from popular skateboard tricks. The onion characteristics stems from the numerous Italian Onion Festivals, and the body is fashioned as a designer toy, similar to the Japanese characters Domo-kun and Hello Kitty.

Ollie will be introduced to the public to help celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company. He will be featured on their web site as one of the Lazy Riders that Bastard sponsors. Ollie is extremely versatile and the company can sell products in their store, from key chains to beanbags. Ollie will have an online presence and feel like an actual person that can interact with customers.
